Project Development

The development of my project consisted of three main steps: Learning, Planning, and Developing.

Learn

Coming into the spring semester of 2022, I knew very little about the development of a digital humanities project or the kinds of values help by the community. As such, the first step was to learn.

Thankfully, I had the guidance of our instructor, Dr. Adrian Wisnicki, in my learning. Dr. Wisnicki pointed us to texts that introduced values such as minimal computing, accessibility, and decolonization. Through the reading of these texts and discussion of their ideas with my classmates, I was able to locate myself in relation to others in the field and develop my own values.

Plan

As I continued to learn, I also began to plan my project. I drafted texts for my website, such as an identity statement and a values statement. During this time, I also experimented with different platforms, such as Mobrise and KnightLab’s SoundCite, to help me decide what platforms I wanted to use for my project.

Towards the end of my learning journey, I began to plan my project more concretely by determining what I wanted to accomplish with my project. This thinking guided my decisions for the platforms I would use and how I would organize my project.

Develop

The final step was to implement my planning and begin the actual development of my project. During this step, I developed this website, revised and created content for the website, and received feedback from my classmates.

The feedback I received was one of the most important parts of the project as it provided me with different perspectives and informed me of how I could improve my project.
